Reception at the General Aviation Terminal Vienna-Schwechat
Private jet arrivals at GAT follow different rules than standard transfers.
If you land with a private jet in Vienna-Schwechat, you will not pass through the general arrivals hall. General Aviation Terminal (GAT) is a separate area, operated by Vienna Aircraft Handling (VAH) as a fixed-base operator - with its own procedures before, during and after landing.
What is clarified before the flight
The following are transmitted before landing: Tail number of the jet, ETA, number of passengers, handling agent and final destination. The license plates of the vehicles are approved in advance in the GAT registration system - without approval, the VIP security barrier will not open. Slot shifts are tracked live via Eurocontrol and Flightradar24 using the tail number.
What happens on the apron
After touchdown, VAH staff will pick up passengers and baggage directly at the jet. The journey to the VIP terminal takes place in an apron bus or a VAH limousine. Passport and customs control take place in the terminal without queues. The chauffeur does not enter the apron - he waits discreetly in the terminal reception area.
The handover and onward journey
After border control, the handover takes place in the terminal with pre-arranged identification - discreetly, without a full name.
